Timber Framing

Completed summer 2022 in Bampton, Oxfordshire.

Here shows a recent traditional timber frame, using Douglas Fir and Oak for the braces and pegs. The roof is shingled with Red Cedar.

Timber framing has been a passion of mine since the age of 16, where I began a short course learning basic woodworking and timber framing principles. In the past couple of years I have worked on a number of builds around the country, being either small structures, like the one shown, or larger buildings; extensions for houses, barns etc.

Learning through the teachings of Gabriel Langlends - using traditional timber framing techniques, where oak pegs are used instead of alternative fixing methods and with a focus on using locally sourced materials.
